Who Writes This Weird Stuff?

Hi, I’m Matt Gross! You may remember me from the New York Times’ “Frugal Traveler” column, which I wrote from 2006 to 2010. I’ve also written a ton of other stuff for the Times, Bon Appétit (where I was the web editor from 2012 to 2014), Food & Wine, Saveur, Afar, Bloomberg Businessweek, New York Magazine, Runner’s World, Outside, Airbnb Magazine, Extra Crispy, The American Psychoanalyst, and so, so many more publications.

You can find pretty much everything I’ve ever done right here, in my Authory profile. My favorite topics include food and travel, obviously, but also running, movies and TV, chili peppers, parenting, and whatever pops into my brain next.

Also: I need a job! While Trying! is my beloved side project, in real life I’m a digital strategy and operations specialist, generally focused on media companies, who does everything from audience development to ecommerce to automation and beyond. Check out my LinkedIn by clicking this paragraph, then hire me!

And as one wise Trying! subscriber put it:
